40 Hour Kit: Who is Draining Your Battery?

(Here for the subject line? Find it in the ❓ Question section)

Hey Reader,

This week's 40 Hour Kit arrives a bit late today. Partly because I planned to preschedule all my content while I'm traveling and visiting family in Brazil. Turns out, I'm not a great pre-scheduler (yet). However, over the last few days, I've spent some time with my cousin here and learned that he is successfully running two companies in Brazil. He’s also part of a founder club similar to the one I'm growing in Europe. Unsurprisingly, the number one topic for founders in Brazil is how to get the best out of AI.

But now it's time for your late-night version of the 40 Hour Kit:

💡 Entrepreneurial Insight

If you are bootstrapping a B2B startup, avoid pricing your product under €50 to €100 a month. Low-priced software requires a massive volume of users to survive, which can easily break your customer support.

Based on serial entrepreneur and founder of WPEngine Jason Cohen's blog article.

⚖️ Balance Hack

Use different browsers or create separate browser profiles for 'Deep Work', 'Admin/Routine', and 'Personal Life'. To eliminate the temptation to quickly check work during off-hours.
When you open your personal profile to plan a trip or do some shopping, you shouldn’t see a single open dashboard, Stripe tab, or unread email notification.

Inspired by Dr. Sophie Leroy's concept of Attention Residue, which occurs when thoughts about an unfinished task disturb your personal life.

🚀 Challenge

This week, find out why your customers are actually buying your product. Reach out to your last 3 customers and ask them: "Why did you buy our product?" When they give you a high-level answer (e.g., "To save time"), ask "Why?" four more times.

Inspired by the '5 Whys' principle in 'The Lean Startup' by Eric Ries.

✨ Recommendation

I hand-picked 7 of Bryan Johnson's recent longevity insights that are directly relevant to your life as a founder:

  1. See at least one friend once a week.
  2. Make an effort to drink water.
  3. When stressed, breathe, learn to calm your body.
  4. Finish coffee before noon.
  5. Turn off all notifications.
  6. The body is a clock and loves routine. Have a daily morning and evening schedule.
  7. Baby steps first: incorporate new things slowly.

Based on entrepreneur and longevity expert Bryan Johnson and his shared insights.

❓ Question for you to ask another Entrepreneur

Who is the one person in your business circle (customer, partner, or team member) who drains your battery the most, and what is the 'cost' of keeping them there?

Have a nice & productive week!
