40 Hour Kit: Would You Build The Same Product?

(Here for the subject line? Find it in the❓ Question for you to ask another Entrepreneur section)

Hey Reader.
As we'll be soon hitting the 50th issue of the 40 Hour Kit, I decided to put all the past insights and inspiration into an AI chatbot. So whenever your mentor isn't available (or ChatGPT is coming up with generic responses) feel free to test it out: Link to 40 Hour Kit AI (it's free, you just need a Google account)

Now, here is your 40 Hour Kit to make this week a nice one:

πŸ’‘ Entrepreneurial Insight

The answer to every unasked question is 'No'.

  • Asking people to buy your product.
  • Asking for someone's help in spreading the word.
  • Asking high-profile people to collab with you.

Worst thing isn't a 'no'. It's missing out on a 'yes' because you never asked.

Based on an interview with Jason Fried (bootstrapped Co-founder of Basecamp/37signals) & author of 'It Doesn't Have to Be Crazy at Work'.

βš–οΈ Balance Hack

Founder life often comes with anxiety.

Widening your gaze to see the periphery (rather than a narrow focus) sends signals to the brain to downregulate alertness and reduce stress.
To do so look at the horizon outside for few minutes, or simply try to see the far left and far right of your room simultaneously without moving your eyes.

Based on Dr. Andrew Huberman (Stanford Neurobiology), who details this technique in his podcast.

πŸš€ Challenge

'Hindsight Bias' (thinking you knew it all along) prevents you from learning from mistakes.
Next time you make a non-trivial decision (e.g., hiring a freelancer, changing a price), take 2 minutes to write down:

  • What you decided.
  • Why you decided it (what data/gut feeling you used).
  • What you expect to happen.

Review it in 3 months. You'll probably be shocked at how different the reality is from what you thought would happen.

Based on a blog post from NYT best-selling author and entrepreneur Shane Parrish.

✨ Recommendation

Before writing your next hook (on LinkedIn, X, your newsletter or for your outreach campaign) ask yourself first:

  1. Does this make the reader think: "wait, are you talking about me?"
  2. What opportunity is my audience blind to, even though it's right in front of them?
  3. What is the person skipping my content missing out on?
  4. Would someone outside my niche scroll past this? (The goal is YES).
  5. What gap is widening between where my audience is now and where they want to be if they ignore this?

Based on marketing insights shared by entrepreneur and content creator Gannon Meyer.

❓ Question for you to ask another Entrepreneur

If you had to start over today with €0 but your current knowledge, would you build the exact same product for the exact same audience?

Have a great week ahead!

Best,

Fabiano

P.S: I'm taking this week's entrepreneurial insight to heart.
