💡 Entrepreneurial Insight
Your calendar should reflect the following: bootstrapping means focusing only on building what is absolutely necessary for your customers (and what would make you money).
Based on the philosophy from founder Janine Sickmeyer, who successfully bootstrapped and sold the software company NextChapter - quoted in 'Work Better. Live Smarter. Be Happier'.
⚖️ Balance Hack
Shutting down the laptop in the evening can be hard. Especially if it feels like there are dozens of open tasks left...
To ease switching off and feeling productive, try the 3-3-3 method. You had a successful day if you did:
- 3 hours deep work on your most important thing.
- 3 shorter tasks you were avoiding.
- 3 activities that keep your life balanced (e.g. cleaning, sports, meditation).
Based on the 3-3-3 method invented by best-selling author Oliver Burkeman and used by bootstrapped entrepreneur and content-creator Sahil Bloom.
🚀 Challenge
Sit down and visualize yourself taking over your own company.
Imagine you were handed a business that is burdened by all the mistakes the previous CEO made (which is basically you).
Write down the 3 most important steps you would take to save the company from bankruptcy.
Inspired by a technique Tobi Lütke (founder of Shopify) uses to fight sunk cost fallacy and gain back clarity on what needs to be fixed to grow his company (mentioned on the David Senra Show).
✨ Recommendation
Professional athletes experience performance plateaus. It's the same for founders. To overcome the plateau it's important to own your weaknesses and start to work on them.
To do so, try out a Founder Skills Audit. A vulnerable comparison between how you see your founder skills and how your team, partners and friends actually experience them. The real power of this audit comes from accepting the actual delta and working on it.
