40 Hour Kit: Why You Should Design Your Worst Day

(Here for the subject line? Find it in the ⚖️ Balance Hack section)

Hey Reader, end of year is coming and for a lot of founders this means: reflecting on the year and refining the strategy (and potentially the lifestyle) for next year. One year ago, this reflection led to my decision to quit Google. To go all-in on proving that building a business doesn't have to mean working insane schedules. (Though thanks to German notice periods, I didn't actually leave until April).
What's your biggest decision, idea or strategic shift you came up with during winter holiday season?

And now, let's dive into your weekly dose of inspiration:

💡 Entrepreneurial Insight

When you're trying to solve a new problem: ask people for guidance or tips whose paycheck depends on solving this particular problem.

Based on how multi-million dollar CEOs Shaan Puri and Sam Parr approach problem-solving in their businesses.

⚖️ Balance Hack

Stop planning your perfect work day. Instead, imagine your worst work day. What would it look like? Full of meetings? Drained by answering emails? Only being reactive? No time for lunch?

From there, work backwards. What are the Anti-Goals or rules to follow to avoid a bad working day?

Based on bootstrapped founder and owner of +35 companies Andrew Wilkinson's Anti-Goal tactic.

🚀 Challenge

Visualization is a powerful tool. Several high profile public speakers visualize themselves crushing their next gig. Just before going on stage they:
-close their eyes & relax.
-think of a past speech they successfully mastered.
-relive the moment by remembering what they saw, heard and felt.

Build your visualization repository. Think of one empowering moment you can visualize for each occasion in which you feel anxious or nervous: the next big pitch, the next important meeting or the next sales call.

Based on the visualization and presentation techniques described by author and entrepreneur Olivia Fox Cabane in 'The Charisma Myth'.

✨ Recommendation

Brand Strategist Emily Dunlop's framework to refine your personal brand and to use as your foundation for content and offers:

S - Stance: Your philosophy and belief. What do you stand for?

E - Epic: Your signature story. Why do you believe what you believe?

L - Legacy: Your deep brand promise. Who do people or companies become when working with you?

F - Framework: Your offer. What's your method, delivery and proposition?

It's not only about packaging your skills, but also your SELF.

Based on Emily's SELF framework.

❓ Question for you to ask another Entrepreneur

If your only marketing channel were word-of-mouth and you only have one customer, what would you need to offer them to grow your business?

Have a great week!

Best,
