Hey Reader,

This week is special for me. I'm leaving my desk for three full weeks soon to visit family in Brazil. This is the first time I’m taking a long vacation since starting the 40 Hour Entrepreneur Club. And it feels scary. Capping my work at 40 hours per week is the one thing. But going on vacation and unplugging for more than a weekend is a different thing, at least for me. I've set a 'check-in window' for emails, I’m staying connected with our founding members, and I'm staying ready for whatever comes up. But I'll also be offline for several days and I'm curious about how I'll feel.

💡 Entrepreneurial Insight

If a team member (or an AI tool) can perform a task 80% as well as you can, delegate it immediately. That 20% "quality gap" is the price you pay to reclaim your headspace and scale your business.

⚖️ Balance Hack

Transitioning from context switching to deep focus is hard. You can trick your brain into flow state if you associate a specific smell with it.
For example, light up a specific candle every time you enter a focus session. Over time, it'll become easier to both enter a flow state and stop thinking about work once the candle is extinguished.

Based on research by neuroscientist Dr. Rachel Herz (Brown University).


🚀 Challenge

This week, tackle one distraction or thing that keeps you from doing your best work. The challenge is simple: add friction to one distracting habit.
For example: use an app blocker for social media, uninstall all distracting apps, or (as a founder friend of mine is considering) replace your smartphone with an old Nokia during working hours.

Inspired by entrepreneur and content creator Ali Abdaal in his bestselling book 'Feel Good Productivity'.

Sales expert and serial founder Alper Yurder (recently guest in one of our Expert Q&A sessions in the 40HE Club) recommends this Three-Layer Lead Gen System to founders to grow their business:

  • Layer 1: The Trust Foundation (Founder Brand). People buy the founder before the product. Post weekly wins, failures, and "behind-the-scenes" to build an unfair advantage in trust.
  • Layer 2: Outbound Activation. Use targeted outbound to find the exact message that resonates with your Ideal Customer Profile.
  • Layer 3: The Feedback Loop. Use call recordings and customer objections to refine your messaging. If a lead says "no" for a specific reason, that reason should become your next post or landing page headline.
